The Untamed Dance Crew auditions are taking place at Golden Grove Primary school, Rondebosch, Cape Town, this Saturday, the 20th of November.
The auditions will be overseen by Jen Stretch from the dance co.
Varsity (13 - 17 years) audtions are from 11:00 - 14:00
Adult (18 - 22 years) auditions are from 14:15 - 17:15
-If you are turning 18 in 2011, you can audition for either the Varsity or the Adult team. We will also allow dancers who are turning 23 in 2011 to audition.
At the audition, you will be taught 3 main sets:
1. A Nu skool hip hop piece focussing on grooves and swagg
2. A Waacking and Voguing inspired piece
3. A Technical Nu skool piece with intricate musical interpretation
-Small segments of House and sub-styles of popping (eg. tutting, isolations etc.) will also be taught.
You will be judged on:
-Technicality (which will be explained in class while pieces are being taught)
-Musicality
-Precision of movement
-Presence/attitude
Dancers are auditioning to be apart of the 2011 Untamed Varsity and Adult teams that will be competing at the Dance To Las Vegas competition in Carnival City, Joburg (March 17 - 20.)
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
-After the auditions, ALL practices will take place in the Northern Suburbs (Durbanville/Belville area.) Make a 100% sure that your transport will not be a problem. When you miss a rehearsal it affects the entire crew.
-Be aware of the fact that the Joburg trip can cost up to R2500+ and (if we qualify for worlds champs) up to R30 000 for the trip to Las Vegas.
-We will be having fundraisers throughout the year to raise as much money as we can to assist with the costs. For this to be successful we need all dancers and their parents to get involved in the fundraising.
